Alison & Chris

I knew Alison and I would hit it off the minute she said she wanted wild-looking bouquets of seasonal flowers- very possibly my favorite thing to make. It was late June, and we put together Coral charm peonies, Juliet and peach peony garden roses,  lavender, foxglove, scabiosa, and sweet pea vines... all wrapped up with burlap and cotton ribbon in wild, rustic fashion. Big congrats to Alison and Chris, who are not only married, but are now expecting a baby girl! I can't help but get excited when I hear news like that. Many thanks to E.A. Weymuller for the beautiful photos of Alison and Chris; the flower-only shots were taken by yours truly before these beauties left the studio.

Making a mock-up

Normally I don't like making mock-ups- they are typically made so far in advance of the big day that the flowers selections are nothing like the flowers used in the actual piece, thus they are a pretty inaccurate representation of what the actual bouquet will look like. But when the first dahlias of the season appeared in the market today, I was practically jumping up and down with excitement to make this one! (LOCAL DAHLIAS ARE IN- YES!!!!!) Plus, it's for a wedding at the end of this month, so I will be able to use nearly all of these flower selections.
Pretty summery.... (and thanks to my lovely landlady Amy for modeling!)

Pretty and pretty

Apricot, ivory, blush, bronze, and white, with butter yellow highlights.... my favorite color palette.
 This weeks subscription arrangements included:
I am so thrilled that clematis is back in season! I love how much movement it brings to arrangements.
And those Iceland poppies and peonies aren't so bad on the eyes either...
The Spring Subscription is nearly over- just one more week left! But if you live in Seattle, you can sign up for the Summer Subscription (begins June 28th) here. Eight weeks of lovely, locally-sourced arrangements...
