Jane and Jonathan and The Admiral's House

Jane and Jonathan- you couldn't find a sweeter, more gracious couple. Here is a very belated view of their beautiful wedding at The Admiral's House, from August 2015 (the blog train is moving a bit slower now that we have a baby on board!). To lend a feeling of timeless elegance, we went with a classic color palette of layered greens and white for the ceremony, but added peach and pink tones into the palette for the reception to warm it up and give it a fun kick! It was a gorgeous day, and these photos from Belathee capture it perfectly. Enjoy!

Melissa and Jeff

It's fairly rare that we take on a really small order for wedding flowers.... but occasionally the right people come along and we do! Melissa come to the studio with a very open perspective. I remember during our consultation saying, "It sounds like you would be happy with somewhat of a surprise," and she said yes, she would! She didn't want to pin down too much about her flowers, she wanted to leave the door open to our creativity and what really looked amazing the week of her wedding. The only strong request she had was nothing too tropical looking, and a slightly vintage feel. It was so fun to have so much freedom in creating this bouquet for her, weaving in ideas of what would really pop and also look at home in the landscape where she would be married, and also fit with her personality and the vibe of her wedding.

As usual, Jess Hunter took the most beautiful photographs of the couple, the bouquet, and the landscape.

Congrats Melissa and Jeff! Thanks for being so open-minded about your flowers!

Eleanor's Bouquet

Back in May, I created a bridal bouquet for my friend and fellow floral designer Eleanor (of Bash & Bloom). Over the years I have created bridal bouquets for many friends, but never for a fellow floral designer- it was so fun, a bit terrifying, and a huge honor!

Eleanor gave me a dream set of instructions- "I don't want to know what you are putting in it. I want it to be big and wild."

May is such a great month for flowers, and Eleanor's bouquet was filled with locally-grown ranunculas, poppies, clematis, and foliages, plus mock orange and more clematis vines from my garden. It was dreamy!

I was so nervous on my way to bring it to her. I always want the bride to love her bouquet, but in Eleanor's case there was the added fact that she is an accomplished floral designer, and as such really knows what she is looking at.

When I gave it to her, she teared up and said, "It's perfect." Pretty much the highest complement possible! Thanks Eleanor!

A huge congratulations Eleanor and Matt! You two are made for each other, and I am lucky to call you my friends. Thank you for entrusting me with the job of making your bouquet- it was such an honor!

Spring Bridal Brunch with Blooming Branches

These photos are from a shoot that took place almost a year ago, but for some reason it never really made a proper appearance on the blog. Now that spring is almost here again, it is high time to share this beauty! Blooming branches, peonies, sweet peas.... spring is a VERY good time for flowers, and we are waiting with anticipation for these gorgeous blooms to come back into season- it won't be long now.

Be sure to check out the list of vendors at the bottom of the post, there were some great people involved in this shoot!

A Summer of Cascading Bouquets.....

Approximately a quarter of our brides this year have carried cascading bouquets! It has definitely been a trend this year, so we've had a summer full of trailing vines (no complaints here!). There are so many photos to share, but until our busy season is over, our primary concern is our clients, so blogging is taking a back seat. Stay tuned this fall for lots more photos! In the meantime, here is a gorgeous photo from Barrie Anne Photography of one of our favorite cascading bouquets of the summer.... with a color palette to ring in the fall!

Melissa and Craig at Holy Rosary

Melissa and Craig were married on June 6th of this year, at Holy Rosary in West Seattle. It was the very last week for local anemones, and it is hard to resist those beautiful, white blooms with deep navy/black centers! It was my second time working with Nata of Nataworry Photography, and she did some great work on this wedding. If you're in the market for a wedding photographer, I highly recommend you check out her website here. Below are some of my favorite shots of the couple and the flowers:
I've been making a lot of flower headbands recently for flower girls- they are great because they are so easy for the girls to wear, and look pretty, darn cute too.
These two are so adorable, it really makes me smile... Congratulations Melissa and Craig!

Featured on 100 Layer Cake!

Last November, we collaborated on a photo shoot that was recently published on 100 Layer Cake! For this shoot, we really wanted to play with COLOR. As the shoot took place in November, we went foraging around Seattle for fallen leaves and cool seed pods to bring in some of that awesome, crisp, autumn texture. We combined earthy browns, punchy oranges, and lush pinks with modern metals and teal accents, to create a super rich color palette.

It is a rather strange time of year to highlight such autumnal designs, but I didn't want to wait until next fall to share! Hopefully this will inspire anyone out there currently planning a wedding this coming fall. Enjoy, and be sure to check out all the amazing vendors who contributed to this shoot (list at the bottom of the post).
