Amanda and Matt's Magical Forest Wedding

Nestled in the forest, at the foothills of the Cascades, Amanda and Matt chose an incredibly picturesque setting for their wedding. Amanda loves large, soft blooms and all shades of pink, so we combined these textures and tones with lots of green and a hint of burgundy to blend well with the surrounding forest. It was late June, and somehow, amazingly, all four of the "rockstar" flowers were blooming at the same time: peonies, ranunculas from Janet Foss (she had literally one bunch), garden roses from Peterkort, AND cafe au lait dahlias (the very first bunch of the year from Jello Mold Farm)! So Amanda's bouquet was the stuff of dreams- as soft, billowy, and romantic as it gets.

As usual, Jess Hunter knocked it out of the park with her unbelievably beautiful photography. There are a few non-flower portraits in this post that I had to include because they are just SO beautiful! Be sure to check out her website if you are not already familiar with her work.

Congratulations Amanda and Matt!

Jamie & Ryan at AXIS Pioneer Square

These two. Could they be in any way, even just a teeny, tiny bit more adorable?

Jamie and Ryan married in late June at AXIS Pioneer Square. Planned by Megan from Clutch Events, their wedding went off without a hitch! Jamie and Ryan love the outdoors, and have a special fondness for the Methow Valley, so we based the floral design choices around creating a palette reminiscent of that environment. Small, meadow-esque blooms were paired with a good number of grasses, and roses added a classic elegance, making the flowers look right at home in their urban venue. Color-wise we went for lots of greens and creamy neutrals, with accent of earthy brown, gold, and a hint of blue for that clear, blue sky! And since it was a fancy affair and we wanted to add a layer of warmth, we paired all of this with glimmering hints of brass.

Many thanks to Shane Macomber for the incredibly beautiful photos.

Congratulations Jamie and Ryan!

From the Garden....

The Cutting Garden is getting so messy- plants are falling down across the paths, knocked over by the rain and late-season neglect. But the flowers bloom on, always reaching towards the sun, so there are tons of twisty stems out there. I can't say we mind, it makes them so very amenable to spilling over the edges of their vases....

A Summer of Cascading Bouquets.....

Approximately a quarter of our brides this year have carried cascading bouquets! It has definitely been a trend this year, so we've had a summer full of trailing vines (no complaints here!). There are so many photos to share, but until our busy season is over, our primary concern is our clients, so blogging is taking a back seat. Stay tuned this fall for lots more photos! In the meantime, here is a gorgeous photo from Barrie Anne Photography of one of our favorite cascading bouquets of the summer.... with a color palette to ring in the fall!

Stephanie and Chris

A wintery night at an intimate bar, two people who are very much in love, a close group of family and friends, beautiful details, artisan cocktails...... sounds pretty great, right? That was the setting of  Stephanie and Chris' beautiful wedding in mid-January of this year. They married at Canon, the bar on Capitol Hill known for amazing, craft cocktails and an impressive collection of whiskey and bitters. Stephanie is the talented designer behind Dahlia Press, a design and letterpress studio that makes gorgeous paperie, so she has an incredible sense of style (you can jump right over to her website here to check out her beautiful work!). She created the invitations and paper good for the day, all with a prohibition-inspired theme to match the bar and vibe of the wedding. The fabulous Erinn J. Hale photographed the day beautifully (um, the LIGHT in this first portrait- WOW! So beautiful). And if you want to see this wedding in print, check out the current issue of Seattle Bride Magazine- Stephanie and Chris' day is one of their featured, local weddings.

But before I share the photos, I have to share the email that I received from Stephanie, on the day of the wedding itself, shortly after I handed off the flowers: "Kelly!! I just have to tell you how over the moon I am for the flowers. They are more stunning then I could have ever imagined. The bouquet looks AMAZING with my dress!! I'm taking a little break in between photos and ceremony time and just had to message you. Thank you soooo much!!! Your work made this day so special." Suffice to say, receiving that email put a big smile on my face - that is exactly the kind of response that I hope each and every one of our couples has when they see their flowers.

Congratulations Stephanie and Chris!

From the Garden....

Looks like we're starting a little series here, posting an arrangement that is 100% Seattle-grown, from the Botanique Cutting Garden about once a month. We'll try to keep up the trend! This one is a little berry-toned number, with Koko Loko roses, dahlias, bronze amaranth, queen anne's lace, scabiosa, and just the slightest hint of physocarpus.

Featured on Magnolia Rouge

We loved creating the florals for this beautiful shoot, featured today on Magnolia Rouge. The shoot took place in late May, and we rounded up columbine, viburnum, red peonies, roses and spirea to make these wild, woodsy floral pieces. Full list of vendors at the bottom of the post. Enjoy!

Melissa and Craig at Holy Rosary

Melissa and Craig were married on June 6th of this year, at Holy Rosary in West Seattle. It was the very last week for local anemones, and it is hard to resist those beautiful, white blooms with deep navy/black centers! It was my second time working with Nata of Nataworry Photography, and she did some great work on this wedding. If you're in the market for a wedding photographer, I highly recommend you check out her website here. Below are some of my favorite shots of the couple and the flowers:
I've been making a lot of flower headbands recently for flower girls- they are great because they are so easy for the girls to wear, and look pretty, darn cute too.
These two are so adorable, it really makes me smile... Congratulations Melissa and Craig!
